How to Play Poker

Poker

Typically, Poker is played with a group of 5-7 players. However, it can be played with more than 10 players. Some poker games use a small blind and a big blind. In a game of two players, each player may choose to act as the dealer.

The most basic poker game involves choosing five cards from a pack of cards, forming a hand, and betting. Usually, the goal is to make the best hand. The best hand is considered to be the highest-ranking hand of cards.

A hand of cards that can be made using only the cards in your hand is called a “straight”. In some games, the straight is considered to be the highest-ranking hand, e.g. sevens, fives, fours, and threes, in two or more suits.

In Poker, a hand of cards that uses three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank is called a “full house”. The lowest hand possible is 7-5-4-3-2 in two or more suits.

In some games, the ace is treated as the lowest card. The highest possible hand is a five of a kind. A five of a kind beats a straight flush.

One of the first things that any poker player does is choose the cards to form a hand. These cards may be dealt face up or face down. The cards are then shuffled by the dealer. Depending on the poker variant, the dealer may be the only player allowed to shuffle the cards.
